After all the hours spent in the Robotics laboratory, the day of visiting the outside world arrived. The Epoxsea crew finally left the lab to search for several tools and equipment to further facilitate the progress of the construction of the ROV. Our stop for the day was the Golden Computer Arcade of Sham Shui Po. As the name suggests, a plethora of electronic hardware and devices can be purchased from the Golden Computer Arcade. Ranging from flashy LED keyboards to miniscule microprocessors, custom motherboards to second-hand devices, they can all be found if you look hard enough. To get the best bang for the buck, one would have to visit multiple shops and compare prices to find the best deal. After getting a hold of the required items, we ventured back to the depths of our laboratory, waiting to see sunlight once again.
Just like last year, Epoxsea Inc. and Jesuit Robotics Team set aside a date to have a nice little Skype session to discuss one thing we are both passionate about: ROVs! It might have taken a while for all of us to fit into the screen and break the ice but soon we went on to asking each other some ‘personal questions’ (which surprisingly wasn’t that awkward at all!), after exchanging advice and information about the competition, of course. Business before pleasure ;D. It was certainly a fun way to start the morning/evening.
